Say hello, share your day, make a plan. Explore French conversation practice with an AI friend, starting with a short example you can try right here.

Meet Camille.

Camille is Merdi’s French AI character. The idea is familiar: a friend in your messages, a question about your day, and a little help when you can’t find the words.

Choose “Your day”, “A café stop” or “Your next trip” in this example conversation. Read Camille’s message, tap “Translate” if you need it, and see how a mixed French-and-English reply becomes a useful French phrase. No account is needed for these scripted examples.

Then try saying the reply in your own words. Replace the walk with something you did today, or the trip with a plan you’re making. A small, true message is enough to begin.

So, did you have a good day?

Oui ! I went for a really long walk.

Tu peux dire : « J’ai fait une longue promenade. »

You can say: “I went for a long walk.”

Tu es allé où ?

Where did you go?

A little French. A little help. Still your conversation.

A little help.
Another reason to reply.

Merdi is being built for learners who want everyday French to feel more familiar. You might be getting ready for a trip, keeping in touch with friends abroad, or looking for a reason to use the phrases you already know.

The app experience we’re developing brings together:

  • Conversations shaped around your interests and confidence.
  • Translations and explanations alongside the message.
  • Corrections that help you say what you mean.
  • A familiar contact and a conversation you can return to.

Merdi is in development. You can explore the app preview now; the website conversations are scripted demonstrations. Daily check-ins and voice conversations aren’t available yet.

Before your first chat.

Is Camille a real person?

Camille is an AI character, not a human tutor or another user. The aim is a familiar conversation with language help along the way. The public examples above are written demonstrations, not real user chats.

Can I start if I only know a little French?

Yes. Start with the greetings and short replies in the guides. Each example includes an English translation, and you can try writing one sentence before adding more. The seven-day routine offers a simple reply and a fuller version for each prompt.

What if I need an English word?

Our examples show a mix of French and English, followed by a French version you can reuse. Try the French you know, look up the missing part, then write the message again in your own words.

Is this speaking practice or texting practice?

These guides and previews focus on text conversations: reading a message, finding a reply and asking a follow-up. They don’t assess pronunciation. Use listening and speaking practice alongside them if you want to prepare for spoken conversations.

Can I practise without signing up?

All the website guides, translations and reply exercises are available without an account. The app has a separate sign-in flow. We haven’t announced launch pricing or usage limits yet.
